Bankers Association of Saint Lucia’s Service Excellence Committee Prioritises National Fraud Awareness

The Bankers Association of Saint Lucia is urging the public to remain alert to banking related scams as it launches a national fraud awareness initiative through its newly established Service Excellence Committee.

The Committee was formed to address issues that affect customers and their banking experience. Its work will focus on improving service standards, identifying opportunities for industry wide improvement, supporting customer education, and strengthening public confidence in banking services.

Through a public education initiative, customers will be exposed to practical tips to recognise suspicious communication and take appropriate steps to protect their money and personal information. Scammers exploit the trust people place in financial institutions, so a message bearing a bank’s name or logo should never be accepted as proof of authenticity. Knowing what to look for can make the difference between spotting a scam and falling victim to one.

The campaign will feature informative videos, security tips and social media content based on familiar scenarios. Member institutions will share these materials through their communication channels, extending the reach across the island. The public is encouraged to consider and share the content with family and friends who can benefit from the information.

Alongside the fraud awareness campaign, the Service Excellence Committee will undertake a national customer experience survey to better understand the challenges people encounter when accessing banking services. The survey will solicit feedback from customers on their banking experiences and areas for improvement. The Association will use the survey findings to identify common areas of concern and to improve the customer experience across the banking industry.

Through these initiatives, the Bankers Association seeks to strengthen collective action among member institutions, promote informed decision making and contribute to a safer banking environment in Saint Lucia.
